Riley is one of SARG's adoptable animals who is currently
looking for a permanent, loving home. We have had many questions about Riley's breed, and it
has become quite a topic of speculation. He is a big, big boy, with lots of long, thick, cream-colored fur.
At first, we thought he was a Labrador retriever and shepherd mix. But then, he kept growing, and
someone said he must be a Great Pyrenees, which would explain the size. Husky? He's got that fur that
would keep him comfy in a cold climate, and enough energy to pull a sled all by himself. But his head--broad as
a teddy bear! Well, no one actually guessed that yet, although he is a very sweet boy. And those huge feet!
A dog this unusual and beautiful must have some very special ancestors.
So, to satisfy everyone's curiosity, and to highlight Riley's special qualities, we decided to have his DNA
tested and settle the issue.

And while we were at it, we thought a contest would be fun. Soooooo.....

Now through Saturday, June 20, we are running a "Guess Riley's Breed" contest.
E-mail us with your guess as to the top
three breeds in Riley's heritage. Be sure to tell us your name, phone number, and e-mail address, if you have
one. We will announce the results of the DNA test and the contest winner(s) at the Secret City Festival
on June 20. We will award $5 dog-wash discount coupons to a maximum of 5 people who correctly guess the top
three breeds. If there are more than 5 correct entries, we will draw 5 names from all the correct entries. You may
also drop off your entry on paper at the SARG booth at the Secret City Festival, up until noon on Saturday,
June 20. One entry per person, please! More pictures of Riley.
