A Cheesy Little Family

We have a mom and 3 kittens who share their foster home with Victoria, their kitty-loving doggy foster sister. Mama is Brie Clarson, who has two daughters: Havarti Patel and Gouda, and one son, Morticai Stilton. The kittens were born around the first week or two of February, 2024, so they are about 13-14 weeks old as of May 7.

Brie Clarson

We estimate Brie to be less than a year old. She's a beautiful kitty and very sweet and loving. She likes to follow her foster family around the house. She likes Victoria and will cuddle with her from time to time. She's very playful and loves to chase her kittens around the house and play with them.

Gouda

Gouda's favorite thing is to do zoomies and chase her Momma around the house (or be chased). She is all about playing and is always on the go.

Havarti Patel

Havarti Patel is the adventurous one who is always first to explore. Her coloring is gorgeous—she's a dilute tortoiseshell. She loves to cuddle and get attention.

Morticai Stilton

Morticai does especially well with Victoria, the dog. He loves to run and play then crash in your lap when he's he's done. He's the only male of the litter.

Walker

Cat Ballou here reporting for The SARG Times. I’m interviewing Walker, a very special SARG kitty

Cat: Walker, tell us about yourself.

Walker: I’m an orange tabby, bobtail boy, and I’ve probably got a Manx cat for an ancestor somewhere. I’m the perfect weight for my big bones, topping the scale at 16 pounds. When I went in for my vaccines, the vet tech wanted to know if I was a cat or a mountain lion. I’m shy, but once we are friends, I want all the pets!

Cat: What is your career aspiration?

Walker: I’ve always wanted to be a Texas Ranger. Can’t you just see me with a white cowboy hat on my head?

Cat: What is your favorite quote?

Walker: A true friend is a friend for life.

Cat: Do you have any hobbies?

Walker: I love taking naps, and then watching the birbs and skwerls from the screen porch at my foster home. They are so sassy, because they know I can’t get out!

Cat: Would you consider yourself a lap cat?

Walker: I’m a polite, gentleman cat who doesn’t require a lap. I love to be beside you, and if you stretch out on a recliner or a sofa, I love to lay across your legs.

Cat: Any final words?

Walker: Are you looking for a handsome, 2-year-old fella? That’s me. Give me a chance, and I’m sure you’ll be my favorite person, and I’ll be your favorite cat.

Adoption News!

Duchess Marie — ADOPTION PENDING!

Duchess Marie is a playful and energetic 10-year-old female, grey and white Maine coon mix, with probably some Persian -- based on her personality and appearance. She is a complete lap cat and follows her foster mom all over the house rubbing up against her legs. At night Duchess enjoys cuddles on the couch while watching TV and getting pets and belly rubs. Duchess has some of the softest fur ever with a big fluffy tail reminding every one of a feather duster. She would do well as a solo kitty to get all the attention, but is ok with other cats. She is very curious and likes to explore her surroundings. If you like a kitty to talk to you, Duchess is perfect; she has a soft, quiet voice and the foster mom says they have full conversations. Duchess is full of playfulness. One of her favorite toys is the laser pointer and tiny little balls. Also, of course, anything with catnip.

Madeline - ADOPTION PENDING!

Meet Madeline—a beautiful, loving lap kitty. According to the staff at UT, Madeline is about four years old. This little girl weighs about six pounds, and is a long-haired Siamese—also called a Balinese.

When Madeline’s owner passed away, she was turned in to the shelter. The staff there realized she had some vision issues. When SARG got her, we took her to UT to be examined by the head ophthalmologist on staff there. Dr. Ward diagnosed her with Progressive Retinal Atrophy, a genetic condition. She has probably been blind for most of her life. Siamese is one of the breeds where it often occurs.

Although Madeline is blind, she doesn’t let that stop her. She learns a new environment quickly, and the process is fun to watch. She locates the edge of the room, and walks the perimeter, noting any items in her way. A couple of trips, and she knows the area. Litter box—check. Food bowl—check. Water bowl—check. Chair and table legs—check. She’s more than capable of checking and functioning in a whole house.

When she is done investigating and playing, Madeline loves a lap—this lovable little girl is a true lap cat—a true loves-people kitty. When we have taken her out to events, she truly enjoys the attention of strangers. In her foster home, Madeline is fine with the other cats—she responds according to how they treat her. Hiss? Madeline can hiss back with the best of them. Leave her alone? Madeline ignores them.

We feel Madeline would do best in a home where someone is home much of the time, just for her safety—perhaps where someone works from home.

George -ADOPTION PENDING!

My name is George, and I am the last of my litter to find my forever home. As they say, saving the best for the last, right? I absolutely love to run, play, and explore. I want to see everything and do everything, but lately I found something I love to do even more: cuddle. Those who know me well call me a little cuddle bug. After my adventures, I love to curl up in a warm lap all cute and snuggly. There is a foster dog in the house; her name is Victoria, and she's my play buddy. She loves to play hide and seek with me and roughhouse.

My foster family has been clipping my nails since I was 3 1/2 weeks old, so I'm a pro at it. I'm great with using scratching posts and cardboard scratchers. All of my shots are updated and I've been neutered and microchipped, so I'm ready to go. Come meet me and I'll steal your heart. It won't take you long to realize I'm the purrrrfect package!

Bean - ADOPTION PENDING!

My name is Bean. I am a dilute calico, Maine Coon mix. Yes, I have long, luxurious fur. As of the beginning of February I am about 12 weeks old and am current on vaccines. My brother Cornbread, aka CB, and I were rescued from the shelter. I love to sit in the window and to play with my toys. I especially like my feather wand. I will cuddle, if I slow down long enough. I have been around an eight year old and a teenager and I adore them! My foster mommy says I am the most beautiful girl.

Cornbread - ADOPTION PENDING!

Hi, Cornbread here, aka CB. I am dark gray with magnificent, light gray tabby markings. I have medium-length fur. As of the beginning of February, I am about 12 weeks old and current on vaccines. My sister Bean and I were rescued from the shelter. My foster mommy says I am very handsome, and my face is shaped like a mini panther. She's my favorite, that's why I give her kisses! I am very affectionate and love to have my head rubbed. When you pet me, I can't help but run my loud motor. I love to play, but given the choice between cuddle and play, I choose cuddle every time. I will greet you at the door and talk to you every day.

Sasha - ADOPTION PENDING!

Sassy, spunky Sasha is a two-year-old, petite dilute tortie with a giant personality. She cuddles with her foster mama every night but loves to run around and play with her toys during the day. Sasha especially loves helping her foster mama type emails on her computer keyboard. She gets along with other cats, and although she was a little intimidated at first by the foster household dog, she has learned to trust her. Sasha is great at using the litter box, and she has an adorable, plaintive little meow when she wants something. And just check out those mesmerizing green eyes and that gorgeous fur coat! Sasha is looking for her forever home. Will you be the one to give it to her?

She isn’t going to have super long fur like her brother, but she has the more traditional, dark tabby coloration of the original Maine Coon with long earrings and the personality too. Sprite loves people and cuddles. She sleeps at the top of my bed at night right between my husband and I, usually making a kitten pile with Pepsi. Playing with all the toys is top on her fun list and she is either chasing something or asleep next to me while I crochet. If you are looking for a wonderful forever companion, then you can’t go wrong with Sprite and/or Pepsi. They will greet you at the door when you come home and follow you wherever you go. Have a look at this video of Sprite and Pepsi in their foster home.

Ginny is one of five kittens born around April 9th and is roughly 6 months old as of mid-September. She is a sweet and sassy dilute calico. She loves to explore and is usually the first to try new adventures. She loves to play hard with her brother, but she can also be very independent. Ginny’s purring is almost non-stop, especially when cuddling with you. She loves to do zoomies around the house but is getting more and more snuggly after slowing down. She’s also learning to have her nails clipped. There is a dog in the foster home which she wants to play and interact with.

Reed - ADOPTED!

Reed is one of six kittens born around June 18 – making him around 13-14 weeks old as of mid-September. He is a very high-energy little tabby boy who likes to tell you his opinion -- he can be a bit of a loudmouth! He is very affectionate and purrs constantly. Reed has had all of his testing, is neutered, and only lacks his final vaccines, which will be covered with adoption.

Molly - ADOPTED!

Sweet loving and very regal looking, Molly became a mother way too early: she appears to be much of a kitten herself, we’re guessing around a year old. She weighed only 5 pounds when first going into foster care; now she’s more than 7 pounds. She’s been an absolutely amazing and attentive mother to her 5 kittens. We have no idea what happened to her ear, but she’s missing the tip of one of them. She enjoys wandering around the house and exploring, then curling up in your lap or beside you for a nap. She’s tan on top and white on her underside, tall and slender, making her a gorgeous girl — she should be a model!

Molly has been spayed and she’s ready to find her forever home. She and Victoria (foster dog) have become best friends. When she’s not cuddling with one of her foster family, she’s cuddled up with Victoria. She wants to love all over her and play with her then snuggle some more.

Lyric - ADOPTED!

Lyric is one of six kittens born around June 18. This little calico tabby is full of mischief and wants to check everything out. She is a bit more subdued than her bouncing brothers but she loves to tussle with them. Lyric’s adoption cannot become final until she is old enough to be spayed.

Short Tail - ADOPTED!

Hi folks.  I’m called Short Tail, for obvious reasons.  I’m an orange and white tabby bobtail boy, probably a Manx mix.  I get along fine with some other cats but not all of them.  I love sitting laps and getting head rubs.  If a lap is not available, then the screen porch is my favorite habitat.  The chipmunks, squirrels, and birds provide endless entertainment for me.  I think they love to taunt me because they know I can’t get them.  I'd love a home where I get lots of human attention--maybe you work from home...

Fred -ADOPTED!

Fred is one of five kittens born around April 9th. While three of the kittens were very distinct, one of his littermates looks just like him. Their playful mischievousness and knack for getting into everything have earned them the names Fred and George Weasley. The only way to tell the two apart is by looking at their belly- Fred has darker markings and George has lighter marks. They are the darker tan/orange of the four boys, with little to no white. There is a foster dog in the home, so he is getting used to being around dogs. He had had his first round of shots and deworming and will be getting his second set very soon. He is also learning to be patient when getting his nails clipped. His adoption will not become final until he is old enough that we can have him neutered.

Update: The kittens have their final round of shots and microchipping the last week of July, then all that remains is to have them spayed/neutered when they are old enough. Their purrs are now in full swing and they purr when they are cuddling with you. They all still love to do zoomies around the house but are getting more and more snuggly when they slow down.

Ron - ADOPTED!

Ron is a sweet and cuddly yet mischievous kitten. He loves to sleep but when it’s time to play, he loves getting into stuff. He is tan and white with a white patch on his neck. He and his four other littermates were born within a couple of days of April 9th. He’s had his first set of shots and deworming and will be getting his second round very soon. He’s curious and playful with the foster dog in the household. Ron is also learning to be a good boy and be patient while getting his nails trimmed. His adoption will not become final until he is old enough that we can have him neutered.

Charlie - ADOPTION PENDING!

Charlie is a sweet bundle of play and cuddles. He is one of 5 kittens born around the 9th of April. He’s a mini version of his beautiful mother, with tan on top and his legs and underside being white. He likes to sleep and cuddle, but make no mistake, he LOVES to play as well! He’s good with the foster dog in the household and is learning to be patient when getting his nailed clipped. Charlie has had his first round of shots and deworming and has his second round coming up very soon. His adoption will not become final until he is old enough that we can have him neutered.
